Job summary

Grand Hyatt San Francisco is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead daily maintenance of hotel facilities and systems across guestrooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas. You will ensure safety, compliance, and uptime while coordinating with departments and supporting lifecycle maintenance.

The role requires 5+ years in hotel facilities, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to work in a union environment with on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hotel, commercial building, or facilities maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead work in a union environment and follow collective bargaining agreement requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to prioritize and respond effectively in a fast-paced property.
• Working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and work order systems.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends/holidays and participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Perform and/or oversee repairs and maintenance for guestrooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and building systems.
• Support preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, kitchen equipment, life-safety systems, and other critical infrastructure.
• Respond promptly to service requests and guestroom maintenance calls; ensure high-quality workmanship and minimal disruption to guests.
• Participate in room inspections and identify opportunities to improve reliability, energy performance, and asset condition.
