Job summary

Phoenix Children's seeks an onsite, full-time Medical Lab Scientist/Section lead in Chemistry. You will partner with section leaders to supervise technical operations, implement new assays, review policies, ensure QA, MLIS validation, and staff training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or related field.
• MLS or Technologist in Chemistry ASCP Certification or equivalent; SC or eligible within one year preferred.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience performing chemistry testing in clinical laboratory setting.
• Experience with new equipment/assay implementation, middleware/LIS validation, creating/reviewing SOPs, training/competency assessment, and quality assurance activities, including lab inspections.

Responsibilities

• This position works collaboratively with Section Supervisors, Section Directors, Managers, and leadership to provide technical supervision across locations.
• Lead and inspire in daily operations while ensuring regulatory standards and budget adherence.
• Oversee testing, instrument maintenance, quality control, and safety guidelines.
• Mentor staff, guide staffing decisions, and support ongoing professional development.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and SOPs to validate practice requirements.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and participate in organizational committees.
• Perform patient testing and QC to ensure compliance with regulations and safety.
• Perform miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
