Job summary

The Nolan County Hospital District in Sweetwater, TX is seeking an experienced Charge Nurse to lead our nursing team and ensure delivery of high-quality patient care. This Full Time, Graveyard shift role requires strong leadership and clinical skills to coordinate daily unit operations and support patients and staff.

You will supervise nursing activities, assign based on acuity, mentor staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience.
• Previous charge nurse or leadership experience preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily nursing activities and workflow on the unit
• Provide direct patient care and oversee care provided by nursing staff
• Make patient assignments based on acuity levels and staff competencies
• Serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff, providing guidance and support
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
• Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes or emergencies
• Conduct rounds to assess patient needs and staff performance
• Address patient and family concerns with professionalism and empathy
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit meetings
• Manage unit supplies and equipment inventory
• Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges
