Responsibilities

• Supervises and supports nursing and support staff, delegating tasks to appropriate personnel.
• Evaluates staff performance, providing feedback and coaching to maintain high standards of care.
• Oversees assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care on the unit.
• Coordinates care with healthcare professionals to optimize patient flow and care delivery.
• Ensures effective communication among physicians, patients, families, and hospital departments; manages handoffs and unit huddles.
• Monitors patient flow, bed assignments, and resource utilization on the unit.
• Conducts rounding to assess care delivery and patient satisfaction.
• Ensures adherence to safety standards, infection control, and hospital policies; addresses non-compliance.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and audits to improve outcomes.
• Ensures availability and proper use of medical supplies and cost-effective resource management.
• Leads ongoing staff education and professional development.
• Leads infection prevention audits and training for hand hygiene and PPE usage.
• Responds to emergencies within the unit providing leadership and direct care as needed.
