Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a CFD/Mechanical Engineer to lead CFD analyses for mission-critical data center projects. The role requires ABET-accredited degrees or FE/MS routes and strong CAD/CFD tool proficiency. You will mentor teams, prepare client reports, and ensure QA/QC while collaborating across engineering disciplines.

The position is based in Kansas City, MO with travel and a full-time schedule, offering a comprehensive benefits package and ESOP participation.

Qualifications

  • ABET accredited mechanical engineering degree with 3 years’ experience or FE with 3 years’ experience, or MS with 2+ years’ experience.
  • Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; solid CAD and simulation tools experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead CFD analysis of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Apply CFD concepts to complex projects and develop non-standard solutions.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction goals and QA/QC adherence.
  • Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines.
  • Review design information for CFD modelling requirements.
  • Advise on modelling information exchange and deadlines.
  • Perform wind speed and weather probability analyses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ABET accredited Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering
FE exam + 3 years experience
