Summary:
Provide support to students including maintaining health records, basic healthcare support, and assisting with Behavioral Health scheduling and record keeping. The primary role is to ensure students' immediate well-being while communicating with the medical director and/or Departmental Psychologist.
This office is fast-paced and requires employees to work both front and back-end positions. The ideal candidate will be committed to daily presence, ambitious, a self-starter, team player, and adaptable to various situations.
Lead Certified Medical Assistant:
- Capable of training patients for injections.
- Share policy and procedure updates with teammates and assist in implementing them into daily workflows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Health
- Process new student medical packets for various schools.
- Administer and record annual FLU Shots and FIT Testing requirements.
- Manage daily vaccine inventory.
- Train medical and nursing students for clinics.
- Validate medical records for students entering rotations.
- Draw up and administer vaccinations.
- Handle patient calls and relay information via the Medicat EMR system.
- Prepare exam rooms and scan relevant documents into EMR.
- Maintain office and medical supply inventory and stock exam rooms.
- Order injectables and vaccines.
- Manage mail and communicate with staff and offices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and adhere to Rowan's compliance standards.
Employee Health
- Administer and record annual FLU Shots.
- Coordinate medical clearance for new hires, including PPD/TB tests.
- Collaborate with other departments as needed.
- Manage communication via phones, voicemail, and email.
Behavioral Health
- Check-in patients, verify paperwork, and schedule visits in EMR.
- Prepare patients and assist Psychologist with care.
- Handle patient calls and document in EMR.
- Manage patient charts and correspondence.
- Maintain communication with staff and perform other duties as assigned, following compliance policies.
Qualifications:
- Certification from an accredited medical assistant program required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- At least one year of related experience preferred; student health experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Availability for evening shifts required.
- Experience with electronic medical records required.
- Ability to work independently, with excellent communication, organization, and flexibility skills.
Contract Details:
13-week contract with potential extensions and temp-to-perm opportunity.
