Job summary

Vertex is seeking a talented Scientist to join our Process Development team in Boston, MA, leading development studies for a cell-based drug candidate. This full-time role requires expertise in bioprocess engineering and cell culture, with a focus on scaling processes for clinical programs.

The ideal candidate will mentor cross-functional teams, design experiments, and apply DOE/statistics to optimize manufacturing steps, all within a GMP framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biology or related discipline.
• 6+ years of experience with bachelor's, or 3+ years with master's, or 0-3 years with PhD, or the equivalent.
• Experience in cell therapy/process development and GMP environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments to develop robust manufacturing processes for cell therapy products.
• Mentor a team of bioprocess associates within a cross-functional matrix.
• Communicate plans and delegate work across departments.
• Develop pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation expertise.
• Document procedures and perform statistics on data.
• Coordinate long-range priorities and resources for the team.
• Generate and review protocols and technical reports.
