Job summary

Vertex is seeking a Scientist to lead development studies for a cell-based drug candidate targeting diabetes. This full-time role is based in our Boston, MA facilities with occasional weekend work.

The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert in bioprocess engineering, able to design experiments, mentor teammates, and collaborate across departments to deliver robust manufacturing processes and timely program goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biology or related discipline.
• 6+ years experience or Master’s 3+ years or PhD 0-3 years, or equivalent.
• Experience in pluripotent stem cell culture and bioprocess development.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments to develop robust manufacturing processes for cell therapy products.
• Mentor bioprocess associates within a cross-functional team.
• Communicate plans, schedules, and delegated work to the team.
