Job summary

Endeavor Health’s Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL seeks a Lead Clinical Documentation Specialist to drive documentation quality and coding accuracy. The role includes mentoring staff, performing complex chart reviews, and partnering with physicians to resolve documentation gaps.

The position is full time (40 hours) with standard daytime hours and occasional travel to other Endeavor Health locations for trainings.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree in nursing or HIM; RN license required; BSN preferred.
• Certifications: RHIT or RHIA preferred; CDS and CCS certifications preferred.
• Experience: 3+ years inpatient CDI experience and HIM with CDI experience.
• Strong communication and analytical skills; ability to mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records for accuracy, completeness, and specificity of clinical documentation.
• Query and follow up to clarify missing or conflicting physician documentation.
• Collaborate with clinicians to ensure accurate diagnoses and treatments.
• Mentor staff; assist with escalation and denial prevention activities.
• Improve workflow processes and provide feedback to CDI Director.
