Job summary

Mercy is seeking an advanced CDI professional to lead reviews of inpatient records, identify gaps, and collaborate with clinicians and coding staff to improve documentation quality. You will communicate needs clearly and ensure timely completion while supporting educational efforts for providers.

The role includes generating data reports, supporting quality initiatives, and participating in committees to advance documentation standards across Mercy facilities.

Qualifications

• RN, BSN, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CIC, CCDS or CDIP required.
• Minimum 3 years CDI experience and 1 year in nursing or related field.
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
• Excellent communication and group presentation abilities.
• Ability to mentor junior CDI Specialists.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records to identify missing or incomplete documentation.
• Communicate documentation needs to providers and ensure timely completion.
• Collaborate with coding, quality, compliance and medical staff to improve documentation quality.
• Provide data reports and educational support for required documentation elements.
• Support special projects and committees related to documentation quality.
