Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Cashier/Stocker to support store operations and deliver exemplary customer service in a fast-paced environment.

You will unload trucks, stock and rotate merchandise, assist customers, operate the register, and help maintain a clean, safe, well-organized store following company procedures.

Open and/or close the store under supervision and contribute to a positive shopping experience for customers and teamwork among employees.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, etc.).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to operate IBM cash registers and similar POS systems.
• Knowledge of safety, cash control, and loss-prevention practices.
• Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and follow merchandise presentation guidelines (plan-o-grams).

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock merchandise.
• Maintain and rotate stock; build displays.
• Assist customers in locating merchandise.
• Operate cash register and process payments.
• Open and close the store under supervision as needed.
• Keep store clean, safe and organized.
• Support loss prevention and adherence to policies.
