GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the LC assists in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates. This role requires proactive collaboration, leadership, and influence among peers. The Lead Cashier drives loyalty results, including credit, focusing on performance (sales, guest experience, and loyalty), people (guest service, associate training and development), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). The LC supports the leadership team with register functions, associate exit inspections, cashier chat ins/outs, and requires a passion for guest experience, process excellence, and delivering exceptional results by engaging guests in our Loyalty Life Cycle to meet goals.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance

• Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Ensure each guest receives exceptional service by greeting, engaging, personalizing service, and recommending products/services.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Support guest services like makeup applications and product demonstrations to enhance sales and experience.
• Book appointments and support in-store events to deliver an outstanding guest experience while achieving sales targets.
• Maintain replenishment, organization, and readiness of all cashwrap displays and supplies.
• Maintain prompt attendance.

People

• Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
• Assist leadership with cashier chat ins/outs and associate exit inspections.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Promote and explain the guest loyalty program, including credit and app benefits.
• Assist in training new cashiers and cross-training associates.
• Engage and influence peers to achieve productivity and performance goals.
• Drive cashier accountability and follow Ulta Beauty systems and prompts.
• Participate in ongoing training to develop professionally and boost sales performance.
• Collaborate with store team to grow the business.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Adhere to dress code.
• Complete all transactions accurately, including returns and media control.
• Perform register opening and closing as directed.
• Maintain store cleanliness and standards throughout the store.
• Protect assets and minimize loss through adherence to standards and safety.
• Execute other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High school diploma preferred.

Experience

• 2 years relevant experience or equivalent education and work experience preferred.
• Ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve.

• Proven success in exceeding sales goals and training new hires.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Frequent bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs.), and reaching.
• Continuous object manipulation.
