GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the LC assists in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates, demonstrating the ability to proactively collaborate, lead, and influence peers. This position drives loyalty results, including credit, through performance (sales, guest experience, and loyalty), people (guest service and associate training), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). The Lead Cashier supports the leadership team with register functions, associate exit inspections, and cashier chats, requiring a passion for the guest experience, process excellence, and delivering exceptional results by engaging every guest on our Loyalty Life Cycle and contributing to goal achievement.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance

• Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Ensure each guest receives exceptional service by providing a guest-friendly environment, greeting and engaging guests, personalizing service, and recommending products and services.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Assist guests with makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Book appointments and support in-store events to deliver a superior guest experience while meeting sales targets.
• Maintain replenishment, organization, and presentation of cashwrap displays and supplies to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain regular attendance.

People

• Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
• Assist leadership with cashier chats, associate exit inspections, and training of new cashiers.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, to guests and team members.
• Engage peers to achieve productivity and performance goals.
• Drive cashier accountability and participate in ongoing training to enhance professional development.
• Collaborate with store teams to grow the business.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Adhere to dress code requirements.
• Complete all transactions accurately and control cash/media according to policies.
• Perform register opening and closing functions as directed.
• Maintain store cleanliness and standards throughout the store.
• Protect assets and minimize loss through adherence to operational procedures.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High school diploma preferred.

Experience

• 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.
• Ability to delegate, multitask, and problem-solve.
• Passion for guest service and sales.
• Experience in addressing guest concerns professionally.
• Experience exceeding sales goals and training new hires.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be 18 or older to hold the Lead Cashier role.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mobility throughout the store during shifts.
• Frequent bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs.), and reaching.
• Continuous object manipulation during shifts.
