GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the LC assists in the training of new cashiers and the cross-training of other associates. This position is responsible for driving loyalty results, including credit, through a focus on performance, people, and process. The Lead Cashier supports the leadership team with register functions, associate inspections, and cashier chat in/outs, requiring a passion for the guest experience, process excellence, and delivering exceptional results by engaging every guest on the benefits of our Loyalty Life Cycle.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance

• Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty, and retail shrink.
• Ensure each guest receives exceptional service by providing a guest-friendly environment, greeting and engaging each guest, personalizing service, and recommending products/services.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Support the execution of services and in-store events that enhance the guest experience and drive sales.
• Maintain the replenishment, organization, and cleanliness of cashwrap displays and supplies.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

People

• Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
• Assist in training new cashiers and cross-training associates.
• Engage and influence peers to achieve productivity and performance goals.
• Drive cashier accountability and participate in ongoing training.

Process

• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies and standards.
• Adhere to dress code and store standards.
• Complete all transactions accurately and securely.
• Maintain store cleanliness and protect company assets.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma preferred

Experience: 2 years relevant experience preferred; skills in delegation, multi-tasking, and guest service; experience in exceeding sales goals and training new hires.

Skills: Proficiency with POS systems and technology, excellent communication, interpersonal skills, teamwork, and relationship-building skills, adaptability, and problem-solving ability.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be 18 years or older to hold this role.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mobility throughout the store, including bending, lifting up to 25 lbs., and repetitive movements.
