Job summary

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of commercial carpentry experience with leadership abilities.
  • Ability to read blueprints and layouts independently.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to safety and teamwork.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee commercial carpentry activities including framing, drywall, doors, hardware, millwork, trim, and specialty installations.
  • Lead, direct, and mentor carpenters and apprentices on assigned projects.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate daily work activities with project superintendents, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Ensure projects meet quality standards, schedules, and customer expectations.
  • Maintain jobsite safety and enforce OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Monitor material usage, equipment needs, and jobsite productivity.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues in a proactive and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of labor hours, progress, and completed work.

Position Summary

The Lead Carpenter is responsible for overseeing and performing skilled carpentry work on commercial construction projects while leading a crew to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with company quality standards. This position serves as a working foreman, coordinating daily activities, interpreting plans and specifications, organizing materials and equipment, and mentoring carpenters and laborers on the jobsite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and oversee commercial carpentry activities including framing, drywall, doors, hardware, millwork, trim, and specialty installations.
  • Lead, direct, and mentor carpenters and apprentices on assigned projects.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate daily work activities with project superintendents, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Ensure projects meet quality standards, schedules, and customer expectations.
