Job summary

Advanced Disaster Recovery, Inc. is seeking a full-time Carpenter to build and repair wooden structures, cabinets, and fittings in the NY/NJ/PA/CT area. You will read blueprints, select lumber, and coordinate with clients and suppliers to deliver high-quality results.

The role requires 2+ years of carpentry experience, strong math and safety practices, and the ability to manage materials and crews on site. A valid driver's license and background check are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of carpentry experience.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Proficient with tools, measuring instruments, heavy machinery, and electrical equipment.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Physically fit with high endurance.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Adheres to best practices regarding occupational safety hazards.
  • Communicating with the customer start and end times each day and the status of the project.
  • Managing the crew to ensure that work is being completed efficiently.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Satisfactory background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provides repair services as outlined by scope documentation or work orders
  • Installs wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists and stud work
  • Designs and installs cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall and insulation
  • Adds fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks, hinges and closures
  • Selects lumber by size and strength to suit each job, sourcing wood to suit the customer’s budget and style
  • Liaises with clients, suppliers and other construction professionals
  • Reads blueprints and designs to work to specifications prepared by other construction professionals, architects and building code recommendations
  • Takes measurements and calculates the size and amount of material needed; cuts, shapes and smooths lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements
  • Builds window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
  • Lays out floorings, roofings or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible
  • Carves and assembles furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated
  • Inspects places and conducts repairs or maintenance
  • Builds scaffolding and other construction structures
  • Picks up materials and deliver to jobs sites as required
  • Sets containments, floor protection and dust control systems
  • Maintains company provided power tools and equipment
  • Communicates client concerns/questions to Project Manager
  • Takes photos of the day’s activities and uploading to CRM
  • Conducts controlled demolition services as needed
  • Manages, packs and moves client’s contents / personal property
