Job summary

Lynchburg City Schools, Maintenance Department, seeks a skilled Maintenance Craftsman II - Carpenter to perform building trades, preventive and corrective maintenance, and minor construction across school facilities.

Position reports to the Building Administrator, with immediate starting date. Supervisory duties may be required on large projects; on-call availability for building needs is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in skilled building trades.
• Ability to supervise and train others.
• Willingness to respond to emergencies on-call.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and carry out maintenance tasks for repairs, alterations and additions to school buildings.
• Install, maintain, alter, and repair building components, doors, windows, and furnishings.
• Perform skilled work in carpentry and related trades.
• Stay current with new building techniques and apply them.
• Be on call and ready to respond to emergencies.
• Instruct and train Maintenance Workers and Custodians.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
