Job summary

MAK Design + Build in Davis, CA is seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter to lead residential remodeling projects from day one through completion. You will supervise carpenters, coordinate with the Project Manager, and ensure quality craftsmanship and client satisfaction.

You have 5+ years in residential remodeling, 2+ years leading crews, and strong skills in rough framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry, and reading drawings. Valid CA driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of residential remodeling experience.
• 2+ years leading crews or supervising residential construction projects.
• Experience with rough framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry, trim, and remodeling best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Strong understanding of residential building methods, sequencing, and building codes.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors, inspections, and material procurement.
• Proficiency with construction technology (JobTread experience preferred).
• Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Own professional hand tools (company specialty tools and equipment provided).

Responsibilities

• Lead daily jobsite operations, maintaining safety and professionalism.
• Coordinate with Project Manager and Director of Build to execute the schedule.
• Manage subcontractors, vendors, inspections, material deliveries, and in-house crews.
• Develop and communicate weekly look-ahead schedules to keep projects on track.
• Mentor Apprentices and Carpenters while upholding company standards.
• Maintain daily logs, RFIs, and field communications using company systems.
• Assist with project closeout and warranty items.
