Job description

We are excited to be looking for a new team member to help us do what we love to do; build, remodel, challenge ourselves, create beautiful spaces and provide a valuable partnership and positive experience for our clients. We understand perfection is not always attainable, but we chase it, and we certainly strive to exceed expectations and go far beyond minimum quality standards.

Most of the work we do is residential remodel. Projects range from medium sized repairs to full house remodels, some new construction, ADU's, house lifts and the occasional small commercial renovation. We also love to build recording studios and music spaces when they come along. A primary goal of our company is to increase our focus on sustainable, energy efficient, and environment/human friendly construction. Having a shared passion for better buildings is something we are looking for in a team member.

What we are seeking is a person with a thoughtful approach and drive to learn and grow with our company. Much of what we do is custom work and involves working closely with customers to solve problems, manage selections and find all the little details/issues that must be resolved to make the job a success. Not having all the answers all the time is OK. Knowing when to ask for help or research alternative methods is encouraged.

  • Perform carpentry and direct labor on the job.

  • Evaluate plans, scope of work and budget before start of project. Respond with questions or concerns before commencement of work.

  • Perform material takeoffs and orders.

  • Coordinate subcontractors on the jobsite.

  • Interpret plans and provide detailed layouts for subcontractors regarding electrical, plumbing and HVAC fixture locations etc.

  • Ensure proper job site and work specific safety measures are followed. Enforce safety measures with all workers & subs on site.

  • Ensure all employees are filling out timecard on a daily basis.

  • Perform ongoing quality checks, making corrections as necessary.

  • Photograph job stages and pre-drywall conditions.

  • Check all subcontractor work and request corrections when needed.

  • Communicate regularly with Project Manager or clients to relay job progress/issues and assure customer satisfaction.

  • Be aware of potential work that is outside the original scope/contract. Relay potential changes to PM.

  • Track change orders and estimate costs with PM.

  • Maintain a clean, safe and orderly job site.

  • Report regularly to PM and office regarding job progress.

  • Provide verbal progress reports at company meetings.

  • Work 40 hrs per week, with availability for some early starts or later work as needed.

  • Mindset for high-end, detail oriented production.

  • Demonstrates superior carpentry skill and knowledge of general building principles.

  • Has sufficient knowledge of specialty trades in order to supervise Subcontractors.

  • Supports a team approach, using company rules and systems and involving other team members when appropriate.

  • Thorough understanding of residential building codes.

  • Can see the 'Big Picture' and has the ability to plan activities for the day as well as 2-week look ahead schedule.

  • Motivated to perform quality work and learn new skills.

  • Thrives working independently.

  • Good personal organization, efficient and productive in performing work.
