Job summary

Genesis Contracting is seeking a seasoned Lead Carpenter to run day-to-day site operations, perform high-level carpentry, and mentor apprentices on Central Virginia projects.

Ideal candidates bring 12+ years in carpentry, 5+ years leading crews, and strong ability to read plans from layout through completion. A valid driver’s license and professional communication are essential.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong framing skills: new homes, additions, structural layout
• Proficient with TJI®, LVLs, beams, and Weyerhaeuser Framer Series® lumber
• Able to build stick-framed roofs, set engineered trusses, and execute cornice work
• Window and door installation (new and replacement) to manufacturer specs
• Solid planning, sequencing, and problem-solving
• Calm, professional crew leadership
• Ability to mentor apprentices consistently
• Comfortable with email, mobile apps, timekeeping, and daily reporting
