Job summary

Qualifications

• Prepare daily reports and document project progress.
• Conduct toolbox talks and reinforce safe work practices.
• Track extra work, ticket work, field changes, and punch-list items.

Job description

Livingston Associates is looking to add a lead carpenter to their growing team! This roleis a hands-on working leadership position for an experienced, well-rounded carpenter capable of performing all phases of carpentry while leading and developing a small construction crew.

This individual must be able to independently perform and oversee work ranging from rough framing through finish carpentry, troubleshoot field conditions, read plans, determine materials and methods, and produce professional-quality finished work.

An important part of this position is helping younger and less experienced employees develop their construction skills, confidence, work ethic, and understanding of the trades.

Position Summary

The Lead Carpenter must be a team player who leads by example. We are looking for someone who is patient and willing to mentor younger employees, teach proper construction methods and safe work practices, and provide constructive guidance as employees develop their skills.

This individual must be safety-conscious, respectful, approachable, and professional and maintain regular communication with the Director regarding project progress, staffing, scheduling, materials, safety, and jobsite concerns.

The Lead Carpenter will also interact directly with clients and homeowners and must represent the company professionally, communicate respectfully, and maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites.

A working knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical systems is strongly preferred, allowing the Lead Carpenter to recognize conditions, coordinate work with other trades, perform appropriate basic tasks within the scope of the position, and understand how carpentry work interacts with other building systems.
