Job summary

Jefferson Parish Government seeks a Care Attendant Supervisor for the Jefferson Protection and Animal Welfare Services (JPAWS). The role supervises employees attending to animals, coordinates daily operations, and ensures proper administration and documentation.

You will train staff, review work performance, and assist the veterinarian with inoculation and euthanasia under supervision. This is an essential, emergency-duty position with driving responsibilities and a valid license required.

Qualifications

• Current employment and civil service status with Jefferson Parish at or above JPAWS Care Attendant II; plus two years of paid work experience.
• Associate’s degree or 15 credit hours in Animal Science, Disease and Disease Control of Small Animals, Veterinary Technology, Zoology, or related field; plus one year of paid work experience in an animal facility.
• High school diploma or equivalent; plus three years of paid work experience in an animal facility, caring for animals and maintaining records.
• Preferred: CAET certification issued by the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarian with inoculation and euthanasia procedures.
• Drive Parish vehicle as required.
