Job summary

Sotalent is seeking a Project Engineer to lead capital engineering projects that improve plant safety, reliability, and performance. You will oversee planning to execution, coordinating with operations, maintenance, contractors, and cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes project management alongside technical engineering expertise, with a focus on EHS, PSM, and MOC compliance, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Experience managing capital projects or project engineering initiatives.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, PSM, and MOC regulatory requirements.
• PM principles; PMP certification or training advantageous.
• Experience collaborating with operations, maintenance, contractors, suppliers, and engineering teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving ability with focus on continuous improvement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital engineering projects from concept through completion.
• Manage project planning, scheduling, budgeting, execution, and performance tracking.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Champion EHS compliance across all project phases (OSHA, EPA, PSM, MOC).
• Participate in PHA and other process safety initiatives.
• Provide technical support for new equipment installation, fabrication, inspections, and refurbishment.
• Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor project risks, timelines, budgets, and performance metrics.
• Communicate project status and risks to stakeholders and leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement through project management best practices and stage-gate methodologies.
