Job summary

CSU Stanislaus is seeking temporary hourly student assistants to support Campus Recreation with group fitness classes. Start date on or after August 17, 2026 and end by May 31, 2027, with possible reappointment based on budget and performance.

Responsibilities include assisting in classes, communicating with staff and participants, and attending staff meetings. Open until filled; background check is required and there is a stated hourly wage of $16.90–$18.00.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
• Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
• Preferred: certification through ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NNSCA, or NASM.
• CPR and First Aid certification (preferred; training available).
• Experience leading group fitness classes within the past twelve months.
• Knowledge and experience with a variety of Group Fitness classes.
• Ability to lead classes at the appropriate level and communicate with participants about warm-up/cool down, stretching, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining one or more group fitness exercise classes during the fiscal year, including instruction and equipment care.
• Communicate regularly with staff and participants regarding programs, schedules, and abilities.
• Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
