Job summary

CSU Stanislaus is seeking a Student Assistant for Campus Recreation to support group fitness classes, assist with instruction, equipment care, and communication with staff and participants. The role involves in-person, on-site work in Stanislaus - Turlock.

Start: August 17, 2026; End: May 31, 2027, with possible reappointment based on need and performance. Requires enrollment in 6 Fall/Spring units (undergrad) or 4 Fall/Spring units (post-baccalaureate).

Qualifications

• Preferred: Certification through ACE/AFAA/ACSM/NNSCA/NASM.
• Experience leading group fitness classes in the last 12 months.
• Knowledge of a variety of Group Fitness classes.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred (will train if not).
• Knowledge and experience with Personal Training.
• Meet all Student Employment Policies requirements.
• Ability to lead classes at the appropriate level.
• Ability to talk or hear in a loud environment.
• Vision abilities: close, distant, peripheral, depth; focus.
• Ability to lead Group Fitness classes.
• Ability to communicate warm-up/cool down, stretching, music, cardio.
• Motivated, fun, and knowledgeable about exercise safety.
• Ability to oversee participants’ exercise.
• Strong background in physical fitness and exercise.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining group fitness classes and manage equipment.
• Communicate with staff, participants, and clients as needed.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and perform other duties.
• Other duties as assigned.
