Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. is seeking a Bakery Cake Designer to create beautiful cakes and edible works of art that celebrate life’s moments. You’ll decorate birthday cakes, wedding cakes on site, and help lead part-time staff in a fast-paced bakery environment.

You’ll use your creativity, attention to detail and customer service skills to bring customer visions to life, while ensuring quality, freshness and on-time delivery for daily orders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months or less of related work experience; training provided.
• Ability to stand, walk, and operate bakery equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a friendly smile and take bakery orders.
• Check daily orders, set up timelines and production schedules, review cake details.
• Decorate bakery items and stay current on new designs and trends.
• Develop daily bakery orders for bakers (cakes and sizes).
• Lead and assist part-time staff; coordinate with the Bakery Manager.
