Job summary

Haddad Plumbing and Heating Inc. is seeking an experienced Drafting Manager to join our design and project coordination team in Newark, NJ.

The role oversees shop drawing preparation, mentors the drafting staff, and ensures drawings comply with codes and project requirements for active projects. Reporting to the President and Project Managers, you will lead CAD efforts using AutoCAD or SolidWorks, manage weekly drawing reviews, issue RFIs as needed, and drive accuracy and constructibility for

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in drafting, architecture, engineering or related field
• 3–5 years of demonstrable drafting experience
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar) and ability to produce high‑quality drawings
• Strong attention to detail and precision in drafting
• Familiarity with construction and manufacturing processes and design standards
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• ADDA certification is a plus

Responsibilities

• Prepare shop drawings using CAD to produce detailed 2D/3D drawings, floor plans, elevations and cross-sections
• Interpret rough sketches or specs from engineers/architects to understand project requirements
• Add detail to architectural and mechanical plans for proper installation
• Specify dimensions, materials and procedures for new products
• Ensure drawings meet industry standards, building codes, and project guidelines
• Collaborate with president and project managers for accurate drawings
• Mentor and manage the drafting team
