StaffBuffalo is partnering with a Lewiston-area organization to hire a Lead Buyer for its Procurement Department. The on-site role in Lewiston, NY pays $30-$35/hour and combines hands-on purchasing with strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, inventory planning, and cross-functional communication.

The Lead Buyer will lead purchase orders, part sourcing, and urgent truck-down priorities, while mentoring teammates and supporting ERP adoption (NetSuite/Oracle) and Fleetio usage to keep equipment

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Business or equivalent;Bachelor's degree or ISM/APICS certification preferred.
• 5+ years purchasing/material planning in a service-oriented environment; 10 years preferred.
• ERP experience required; NetSuite/Oracle experience is highly valuable; Fleet maintenance software like Fleetio or RTA a plus.
• Strong sourcing strategy and negotiation abilities with supplier analysis, consolidation, and inventory planning.
• Excellent communication and public-speaking skills; able to work with shop and office teams in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing plans for key commodities, including supplier consolidation, pricing, lead-time, and supply-chain considerations.
• Create and manage purchase orders for Point of Use parts and services, typically 10+ per day.
• Track regular and specialty parts, manage truck-down activity, and prioritize urgent needs affecting vehicle availability.
• Serve as liaison between Procurement and Fleet Maintenance, coordinating with mechanics, staff, suppliers, and internal customers.
• Support inventory planning, material thresholds, purchasing workflows, reconciliation, and warranty recovery with maintenance staff and suppliers.
• Engage in supplier negotiations and ensure compliance with company purchasing terms and processes.
• Coach teammates on advanced procurement practices and adoption of NetSuite/Oracle and Fleetio.

Lead Buyer

Overview:

StaffBuffalo is working with a long-standing organization in the Lewiston area to hire a Lead Buyer for its Procurement Department, paying $30-$35/hour. This fully on-site, role is an important leadership opportunity for an experienced purchasing professional who can combine hands-on buying with strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, inventory planning, and strong cross-functional communication.

The Lead Buyer will work primarily in a fast-paced shop and parts-room environment, serving as a liaison between Procurement and Fleet Maintenance. This person will place purchase orders, track down regular and specialty parts, respond quickly to truck-down priorities, support sourcing strategies, and help keep equipment safe and in service. The role also serves as a coach and mentor to teammates, including helping the team build proficiency with newly implemented ERP and fleet maintenance systems.

This is a strong opportunity for someone with 5+ years of purchasing or material planning experience who understands the urgency of service-oriented fleet, equipment, or parts operations. The typical schedule is approximately 7:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with the ability to start as early as 6:00 a.m., and overtime is available.

The position is fully in-person, on-site in Lewiston, NY.

• Support inventory planning, material thresholds, purchasing workflows, inventory reconciliation, and warranty recovery in collaboration with maintenance staff and suppliers.
• Engage in supplier negotiations and support compliance with company purchasing terms, departmental standards, and established procurement processes.
• Coach and mentor teammates on advanced procurement practices and new processes, including supporting adoption of NetSuite/Oracle and Fleetio.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Business required, or equivalent relevant work experience; bachelor's degree or ISM/APICS certification preferred.
• At least 5 years of purchasing and/or material planning experience in a service-oriented environment; 10 years preferred.
• Purchasing experience supporting medium/heavy-duty fleet, equipment, parts management, repairs, or warranty recovery.
• ERP system experience required; NetSuite/Oracle experience is highly valuable, and experience with fleet maintenance software such as Fleetio or RTA is a plus.
• Strong sourcing strategy and negotiation skills, with the ability to analyze supplier options, consolidate vendors, and support inventory planning.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public-speaking skills, with the ability to work effectively with both shop and office teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with the organization, prioritization, and sense of urgency needed to support internal customers.
