Job summary

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent in Engineering or Business Management.
• 3-5 years practical purchasing experience in manufacturing.
• APICS or ISM certification helpful.
• Previous experience in MRP/ERP systems (SAP preferred).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access).
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to persuade and lead with facts and data, and promote change.

Responsibilities

• Identify, develop, and maintain quality suppliers at best price, quality, availability, on-time delivery, and service.
• Communicate adherence to Gemtron Purchasing practices to internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist in creating standard procedures for plant purchasing processes.
• Support Purchasing Manager or Director on plant-level and regional sourcing strategies.
• Identify and implement plant-level cost savings and risk-mitigation initiatives.
• Mentor and lead other members of the local Purchasing team.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers through communication and visits.
• Champion plant-level cost savings initiatives and cost-outs.
• Contribute to site-level annual planning and purchasing savings reporting.
• Conduct RFQ and negotiate for Capital Expenditure projects and new launches.
• Collaborate on cross-functional projects across Sales, IT, and Supply-Chain.

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

• This role is key in identifying, developing, and maintaining quality suppliers of materials, components, and services at the best price, quality, availability, on-time delivery, and service.
• Communicate & ensure adherence to Gemtron Purchasing practices, guidelines and initiatives both internally to Operations and other internal customers and externally to Suppliers
• Assist in creating standard procedures, processes, and systems for standardization within the plant purchasing department
• Support Purchasing Manager or Director on Plant level and Regional Sourcing Strategies.
• Identify and implement plant-level cost savings and risk-mitigation initiatives
• Mentor and lead other member of the local Purchasing team in a professional, constructive and efficient manner
• Identify, Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers through proper communication and visits
• Champion Plant-level cost savings initiatives / cost-outs
• Contributor for site-level annual planning and savings Purchasing reporting
• Conduct RFQ and negotiations for Capital Expenditure projects, New Project launches as well as support for Innovations Department
• Plant champion for Purchasing for cross-functional projects (Sales, IT, Supply-Chain, etc.)
• Participate in Cross-Functional teams for Process improvements / LEAN activities
• Work with Purchasing Manager or Director in refining & implementing systems for Supplier identification, qualification as well as a smooth transition of program launch to the Supply Chain Planners

Position Supervised or Directed:

Supply Stores Buyer.

Qualifications, Experience requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering or Business Management or equivalent)
• Minimum of 3-5 years practical knowledge and experience in Purchasing in a Manufacturing environment
• APICS or ISM Certification helpful
• Previous experience in MRP / ERP systems (SAP preferred)
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Access
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize while working in a deadline driven environment
• Ability to persuade and lead with facts and data with ability to adapt to, and promote change
