Job description

Company Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco We are the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco — public servants with a mission to advance the nation’s monetary, financial, and payment systems to build a stronger economy for all Americans. As part of the nation’s central bank, we are committed to understanding and serving the vibrant, expansive communities of the Twelfth District, which covers the nine western states of the U.S. That means we seek and appreciate new perspectives and build opportunities to learn and grow. At the SF Fed, we approach our work with integrity and a commitment to service.

The SF Fed’s Supervision Group is responsible for the supervision and regulation of state member banks, bank holding companies, savings and loan holding companies, financial holding companies, data service providers, trust companies, and foreign banking organizations that operate in the 12th District. Supervised institutions are in all states of our District, and range in size and complexity from small community organizations to some of the largest banking organizations in the country.

As Supervision evolves to meet increasingly complex regulatory and industry demands, we’re looking for a Lead Business Analyst to help lead this transformation, shifting our approach to resource and skills planning from reactive to proactive and data driven. This is a high-visibility role, partnering closely with both the Resource Management Group (RMG) and Learning & Development (L&D) teams, where forecasting models, workforce analytics, and strategic insights will directly shape how Supervision builds a stronger, more agile examiner workforce. If you enjoy translating complex data into strategic action and want your work to have a meaningful, visible impact on how the SF Fed develops the people who supervise and safeguard the financial institutions of the 12th District—advancing our mission to build a stronger economy for all Americans we invite you to apply.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain a capacity plan and forecasting model for Supervision resources, incorporating comprehensive demand forecasts and resource modeling inputs.
  • Perform scenario-based planning and modeling to produce recommendations for future needs, assess impacts of strategic initiatives and change, and provide input to tactical scheduling and resourcing plans, including training plans, based on business data and knowledge of business processes/operations.
  • Lead the collection, modeling, analysis, and interpretation of complex and/or broad data; identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to support resourcing recommendations or insights and drive implementation of solutions.
  • Analyze complex and/or broad data sets to support decisions on future skills needs, resource planning and allocation, strategic changes, and business issues that have a broad or highly significant impact.
  • Conduct skills gap analysis across the examiner workforce to identify and prioritize training investments that build a stronger, more capable Supervision team.
  • Thinks strategically and can look at business solutions from both top-down and bottoms-up approach and works to creatively solve problems.
  • Leads cross-functional District and System-level projects and programs related to resource planning and learning initiatives; project manages ongoing efforts including stakeholder collaboration, meeting management, document organization, and follow-ups.
  • Leads team projects/programs to address business issues; manages ongoing initiatives including stakeholder collaboration, meeting management, document organization, and follow ups.
  • Produce reports and analyses to monitor resource availability and usage as well as the effectiveness of key learning and development programs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, business, economics, finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.

  • Proven analytical skills and problem-solving skills with experience in collecting, transforming, analyzing, and reporting complex data to drive significant business decisions.
  • Experience in statistical analysis and modeling forecasts to support demand planning or capacity models within a business planning cycle with familiarity of key staffing metrics such as utilization, productivity, and attrition.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and concisely to all levels of leadership.
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking skill and ability to apply sound judgment when making decisions of moderate to moderately high complexity with the ability to determine next steps in situations where information is unavailable or ambiguous.
  • Prior experience leading cross-functional teams and programs across multiple stakeholder groups, with ability to drive District/System-wide initiatives from inception to execution.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (Excel), visualization software (Tableau), and programming languages such as SQL, R, Python, etc. to manipulate data and create reporting and visualizations from scratch.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10%.
