Job summary

The City of Kingsland, GA is seeking a Building Official to lead the Building Inspections Division, enforce codes, and safeguard public safety. Under the City Manager’s direction, you will supervise inspectors, manage permit processing, plan reviews, and coordinate with other departments.

A strong background in construction trades and code enforcement is essential. You will also contribute to budgeting, attend trainings, and stay current with Building/Plumbing/Electrical/Energy codes to keep

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent plus 7 years in inspections or construction trades.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Valid GA Driver’s License.
ICC Certified Plans Examiner and ICC Certified Building Inspector, or obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Supervise Building Inspectors (assign work, train, evaluate, discipline).
Oversee permit processing, plan review, and inspections; interpret and enforce Building/Plumbing/Mechanical/Electrical/Energy codes.
Assist with the division budget and approve related expenditures.
Maintain inspection/plan records; respond to contractors, builders, and the public.
Coordinate with other City departments; manage final inspections and Certificates of Occupancy.
Support code/ordinance updates and attend trainings to stay current.
