Job summary

Aoka is seeking a Certified Building Official to lead a team of inspectors and act as a senior expert for the sales team. The role centers on enforcing building codes and guiding project teams to ensure safety and compliance.

You will supervise inspectors, manage inspection programs, and engage with clients on complex projects while collaborating across departments to uphold standards and drive quality in construction projects.

Qualifications

• Must hold ICC CBO certification with additional ICC plans examiner or building inspector credentials preferred.
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in building inspection and code enforcement.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and client-facing communication are essential.

Responsibilities

• Supervise building inspectors and manage inspection programs.
• Serve as a subject matter expert supporting the sales team.
• Conduct client visits for complex or escalated projects.
• Administer and enforce municipal, state, and federal building codes, safety, energy, and accessibility standards.
• Oversee issuance of building permits, plan approvals, occupancy certificates, and inspection reports.
• Interpret complex codes and provide guidance to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners.
• Collaborate with fire, planning, zoning, engineering, and public works departments for coordinated code enforcement.
• Manage appeals, code updates, and ordinance revisions.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inspections, permitting, and code compliance.
