Job summary

State of Hawaiʻi is seeking a Building Maintenance Supervisor to lead repair and upkeep of state facilities on the islands. You will plan, lay out, schedule and assign work, inspect structures and equipment, and prepare reports on progress and costs.

The role requires six years of building maintenance experience (two as a journey worker), a valid driver’s license, and forklift certification within six months of hire where required.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of work experience in performing a variety of building maintenance repair work.
• Two (2) years shall have been as a fully competent worker (journey worker level).
• Driver's License may be required at time of appointment.
• Forklift Certification within 6 months from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and participate in repair and maintenance of buildings.
• Plan, lay out, schedule and assign work from work orders.
• Instruct subordinates and demonstrate proper methods.
• Check and inspect buildings, structures, equipment and facilities.
• Estimate material and labor costs and requisition materials.
• Inspect work in progress and upon completion for quality.
