Job summary

Transwestern Real Estate Services seeks a Lead Building Engineer to perform complex preventive maintenance and repairs across building systems. You will monitor operations, supervise engineering staff, and implement energy-saving measures to optimize performance on site in Lanham, MD.

The role requires extensive knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems, plus strong organizational and safety skills. On-site work with potential on-call duties supports client spaces and operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of related experience or trade school training.
• Minimum 5 years of building maintenance experience.
• Licenses or permits relevant to trade (Journeyman/Master Electrician, Refrigeration, Boiler, etc.).
• Experience with HVAC, boilers, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, and water systems.

Responsibilities

• Review daily work orders and assign tasks.
• Oversee and inspect engineering staff work.
• Formulate preventive maintenance programs for building systems.
• Inspect HVAC, fire alarms, plumbing to ensure operation per design specifications.
• Estimate time/materials for repairs and maintain inventory.
• Coordinate with Chief Engineer and clients for maintenance schedules.
• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance; maintain records.
• Respond to emergencies and manage downtime to minimize disruption.
• Maintain energy management programs to control operating costs.
• Ensure personal and team safety.
