Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is seeking a Cx Senior Field Agent to lead on-site commissioning activities for complex building systems. You will perform functional performance tests, troubleshoot systems, and ensure installed systems meet design intent and owner requirements.

Coordinate with clients, designers, contractors, and vendors to deliver high-performing buildings. The ideal candidate has 10 years of MEP/automation experience or a mechanical/electrical engineering degree with relevant field

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience with MEP systems, automation, and controls or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) with five years of applicable experience.
• Extensive hands-on field experience with HVAC and/or electrical systems, building automation and controls, and integrated testing.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and complex submittals; strong understanding of sequences of operations.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute functional performance testing for HVAC, electrical, life safety, and integrated systems; verify sequences of operations.
• Lead field troubleshooting and diagnostics; analyze trends and BMS data to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Maintain master deficiency lists and commissioning logs; drive issues to closure with clear ownership and timelines.
• Review submittals and shop drawings; confirm testing points and data requirements for effective verification.
• Conduct site observations during construction to verify installation quality and readiness for testing.
• Coordinate with contractors, controls vendors, and TAB firms to sequence tests and minimize rework.
• Develop test procedures and adjust in the field as needed to reflect real-world conditions.
• Document results with photos, data, and narratives; produce timely field reports with clear recommendations.
