Job summary

Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is seeking Transportation Engineer 3 to lead technical and project‑management efforts across bridge programs. This position supports safety, capacity, and efficiency of Connecticut’s transportation infrastructure through complex design and coordination with consultants and internal teams.

The role entails managing design tasks, analyses, and contract documents for bridges, while contributing to asset management strategies and statewide bridge

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and three (3) years of experience in transportation engineering.
• Proficiency in bridge design, foundations, highway design, and pavement-related disciplines.
• Strong analytical and technical report development skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead coordination with consulting firms for bridge rehabilitation, replacement, or major structure projects.
• Manage structural design tasks, analyses, and contract document development for bridges and structures.
• Support asset management with data collection, analysis, and lifecycle planning for the statewide bridge inventory.
• Oversee railway bridge projects requiring knowledge of railroad operations and agency coordination.
• Contribute to planning and execution of large bridge projects with multidisciplinary teams.
