Regenstrief Institute, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Research Scientist to lead and advance biomedical informatics research projects, coordinating with investigators and staff to compete for extramural funding.

The role combines leading independent projects with supporting others, designing interventions, evaluating outcomes, and presenting findings at meetings, with a hybrid work arrangement across institute offices.

Qualifications

• Requires a DrPH or PhD in a relevant scientific field (biomedical informatics, epidemiology, health policy, computer science, data science, or related field).
• At least five years of relevant research experience in biomedical informatics, health services research, public health, or similar field.
• Proven experience in establishing and executing research projects and securing external grant support preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across academia, healthcare systems, government, non-profits, and industry.
• Ability to stay current with state-of-the-art technology and systems.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.

Responsibilities

• Manage and set research priorities across projects aligned with Regenstrief Institute’s mission.
• Lead or assist with research coordination, design, implementation, and evaluation.
• Prepare protocols, analyses, and reports for publications.
• Present findings at local, national, and international meetings.
• Disseminate research findings to Institute stakeholders and the public.
• Provide technical guidance to colleagues and students.
• Support funding opportunities and cross-disciplinary teams for grants.
• Assist with grant/contract proposal preparation to obtain funding.
• Negotiate scope of work and timeframes with funders and stakeholders.
