Job summary

US Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Veterinary Services seeks a Biologist (0401) at the GS-13 level to lead the New World Screwworm Facilities (NWSF) at Moore Air Force Base. The incumbent will plan, coordinate, and direct unit operations and supervise staff, ensuring alignment with program objectives and resource planning.

Eligibility includes specialized experience, development of SOPs, and ability to advise on work and administrative matters.

Qualifications

• Biologist (0401) requires a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines.
• OR combination of education and experience: 24 semester/36 quarter hours in biological sciences plus appropriate experience or additional course work.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the NWSF at Moore Air Force Base; plan, coordinate, and direct the unit.
• Develop operational contract requirements and SOPs; interpret broad program objectives.
• Assist in evaluating program operations against long- and short-range objectives and resource use.
• Provide guidance to employees on work and administrative matters; assist in budget/resource planning for shared services.

Education

Biological sciences degree (or related disciplines)

Combination of education and experience: 24 semester/36 quarter hours in biological sciences plus relevant experience or coursework
