This position is open and will be filled as experienced workers (ages 55+) are matched with opportunities supporting Federal Agencies. The Experienced Worker Program (EWP) supports the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in field, greenhouse, and laboratory settings. This position is open until filled.

Base pay range: $30.00/hr

Responsibilities

• Provide research support associated with sustainable weed and insect pest management and insect ecology research, including performing technical duties and collecting and maintaining accurate records.
• Assist permanent USDA-ARS personnel in the execution of field, greenhouse and laboratory experiments.
• Process insect and plant samples, and identify insects, from field research on management of pests and weeds.
• Data management, entry and quality control.
• Insect rearing.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in employment requiring maintaining records or general agriculture, or an AA Degree in Biological sciences, entomology, ag science, or ecology.
• Experience with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel

Other

• Training will be provided as necessary by the agency.
• Health and Safety: JHAs will be identified by the Primary and Secondary Monitors before enrollment and provided to the Location Safety and Occupational Health Specialist. Training requirements will be identified and provided on the first day in the workplace.
