Job summary

Lilly in Pasadena, CA seeks a PhD biochemist to lead macrocyclic discovery efforts, directing assay design and molecule testing from lead identification through optimization. You will collaborate with biology and protein expression groups to troubleshoot reagents and optimize screening capabilities, contributing scientific rationale across projects.

Ideal candidates have extensive biochemical assay experience, protein binding techniques, and hands-on use of SPR/BLI, ELISA, FRET, DSF and CETSA,

Qualifications

  • PhD with proven research success in biochemistry/biophysics and postdoc/industry experience.
  • Experience in protein expression and characterization techniques including purification and functional assays.
  • Knowledge of macrocyclic peptides, oral macrocycles, permeability and potency assays.

Responsibilities

  • Lead biochemist on macrocyclic discovery projects and provide assay strategy.
  • Lead molecule testing from identification to optimization and support Phase 1+.
  • Develop methodologies and run protein binding assays to characterize compounds.
  • Oversee quality and tracking of protein reagents and reagents readiness.
  • Collaborate with biology and expression groups to troubleshoot reagents and screening.
  • Drive platform technology improvements and automation within Protomer.
  • Contribute to strategy and execution with independent scientific rationale.
  • Maintain safety and professional standards within a global team.
