Job summary

ICON is seeking a Principal Scientist (Research Scientist) in Lenexa, KS, to lead bioanalytical method development using LC/MS/MS for preclinical and clinical samples. The role includes overseeing method transfer, ensuring robust assays for biologics and small molecules, and guiding sponsor programs.

You will manage scientific projects, contribute to publications, and collaborate across departments to advance clinical trials and new therapies. Travel ~5% is expected.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in biology, chemistry, pharmacology, or clinical research.
• MS degrees considered with LC/MS/MS method development experience.
• Experience with radiolabeled analytes and biologics such as proteins, peptides, ADCs, oligonucleotides, monoclonal antibodies.
• Experience in clinical or pharmaceutical research with project management.
• Strong analytical skills and data interpretation capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to travel ~5%.

Responsibilities

• Direct development and validation of new LC/MS/MS assays for preclinical and clinical specimens.
• Oversee transfer of robust LC/MS/MS methods for biologics.
• Review data presentations for accuracy and clarity for sponsors.
• Provide support to Laboratory Operations regarding assay quality and troubleshooting.
• Contribute technical input for ICON marketing collateral and publications.
• Drive new business by advising sponsors on assay requirements.
• Collaborate to write and review validation plans, reports, and SOPs.
• Lead assay transfers to other ICON lab locations.
