Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a principal software engineer to lead the next generation of data infrastructure powering big data and AI applications. You will drive strategy, build scalable data frameworks, and work with internal teams to solve complex data challenges at petabyte scale.

Qualifications

12+ years of industry experience and a track record of technical excellence.
8+ years building and supporting large scalable Kubernetes or big data platforms.
Deep knowledge of big data / ML technologies (Flink, Spark, Presto, Kubernetes, Ray, PyTorch/TensorFlow).
Proficiency in programming languages (Java, Go, Scala, Python).
Experience with Kubernetes and AWS technologies.
Collaborates effectively across teams and aligns stakeholders on priorities.

Responsibilities

Lead strategy and technical direction of Pinterest’s data infrastructure for big data and AI applications.
Build and scale data infra frameworks to process petabyte-scale datasets, including compute engines, job management, resource management, scheduling, and remote shuffling.
Collaborate with internal customers on critical business use cases relying on big data.
Provide thought leadership on data processing and storage efficiency at scale.
Contribute to the team’s long‑term vision and roadmap.
