Summary:

Senior BI engineer will be responsible for supporting various key Analytics teams as well as BI platforms and services that include Tableau, Tableau Prep, Tableau Cloud, Power BI and Alteryx. Candidate will have extensive experience with Power BI, Tableau Dashboard/Tableau Prep design process, expert understanding of best practices when it comes to usability and performance and possess communication skills necessary to act in advisory and mentorship role. They will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, operations engineers, delivery managers and IT teams across the organization to ensure successful delivery of data visualization and analytics strategies. They will also collaborate with architecture team to deliver and advocate for optimal system architecture and performance.

Job Description:

• Perform the role of a mentor to Tableau Desktop and Power BI “ad hoc” developer community, communicate and advocate best practices and help identify and troubleshoot usability and performance issues.
• Perform the role of Tableau Cloud site administrator by helping maintain and solidify deployment, governance and security frameworks that enables Tableau Desktop users in organization to publish, share, manage, and connect to data sources and workbooks in secure and efficient way.
• Perform the role of Tableau data manager who creates and publishes data sources to Tableau Cloud, monitor usage of published data sources and workbooks, the success of extract refresh tasks, user activity
• Perform the role of Power BI manager who creates and publishes data sources using the tool
• Develop key metrics, uncover vital insights and deliver critical analysis that will lead to data-informed decisions and guide business strategy.
• Work closely with senior leadership, department heads and teammates to use data to drive the success of the organization.
• Assist with Alteryx Platform Administration, help manage Alteryx environment stability and performance as well as content security, SDLC and governance.
• User Management: Managing user access, permissions, and roles on all BI systems and Server, ensuring proper authentication and authorization.
• Develop SQL code for reporting, data structure optimization and data prep/cleaning/transformation
• Design security architecture by customizing the access levels and creating various user groups by assigning row and column level security application level, folder level and user level.
• Responsible for maintenance and monitoring of BI systems using maintenance tools and monitoring tools and start/stop services and maintain statuses.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in Tableau Dashboard and Prep Flow development
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Power BI development
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Alteryx Development
• Domain knowledge in Insurance and Finance industry is a plus
• Familiarity with Design prototyping tools such as Figma
• Experience with AWS technologies – AWS EC2, ECS, VPC, S3, RDS, Redshift
• Good understanding of SQL, relational databases and relational database architecture
• Knowledge of best practices including design, performance, governance, administration and security for Tableau, Alteryx
• Advanced analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts.
• Experience with Agile software development using JIRA
• Experience in multiple OS platforms with strong emphasis on Linux and Windows systems
• Advanced SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) and query performance tuning.
• Knowledge of the Incident Response life-cycle
• Knowledge of the change management life-cycle
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
