Delivery Lead / BI Engineer (Contract)

Location: Remote (Bonus if near Ramsey, NJ)
Duration: 6+ months (potential for extension or contract-to-hire)

We’re seeking a technically strong Delivery Lead / BI Engineer for our client - someone who thrives at the intersection of data, engineering, and business. This is a high-impact role supporting enterprise analytics initiatives for a Fortune 500 client. Ideal for an independent consultant, the role requires someone who can deeply engage with data systems and communicate clearly with business stakeholders to turn strategy into execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Partner with business and IT teams to align BI efforts with strategic priorities
2. Act as a bridge between product managers, business users, and engineers
3. Translate business requirements into technical user stories and data solutions
4. Write and optimize SQL queries (BigQuery preferred) to validate and analyze data
5. Design data models and testing protocols to ensure data accuracy and integrity
6. Build and maintain dashboards in tools like Looker, surfacing actionable insights
7. Collaborate with project managers on delivery plans, budgets, and timelines
8. Participate in Agile delivery cycles, including sprint planning and reviews

Required Skills & Qualifications

1. Proficiency in SQL (BigQuery strongly preferred)
2. Experience with Looker (or similar tools like Tableau, Power BI)
3. Understanding of Python for data manipulation and automation is a plus
4. Ability to analyze, interpret, and validate complex data sets
5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills—can translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
6. Skilled at requirements gathering, business analysis, and stakeholder alignment
7. Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments
8. Proven ability to manage deliverables independently while collaborating across teams
