Burrell Behavioral Health in Saint Charles, Missouri is seeking a Lead Behavioral Health Technician to supervise shift teams within Recovery Services. The role combines hands-on client support with leadership to maintain a safe, structured environment for recovery.

You will guide technicians, coordinate daily activities, and communicate with the treatment team to ensure high-quality care and continuity. This is a mission-driven, team-focused position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing, or a closely related field is required, or a secondary degree with work history.
• Two years of responsible employment history if no bachelor’s degree is held.

Responsibilities

• Lead Behavioral Health Technicians during shifts, guiding and supporting a positive team environment.
• Oversee daily client activities to ensure safety and program adherence.
• Collaborate with the treatment team and communicate client behaviors and progress.
• Monitor detoxification clients to ensure safety and recovery needs are met.
• Assist with client orientation and educate on rights and program rules.
• Support crisis de-escalation under supervisor direction.
• Train and supervise Behavioral Health Technicians and facilitate team meetings.
• Prepare educational materials and document client progress timely.

As the Lead Behavioral Health Technician, you’ll combine hands-on client support with shift leadership responsibilities within Recovery Services. You’ll guide and support Behavioral Health Technicians, coordinate daily client activities, communicate with the treatment team, assist with crisis de-escalation, monitor clients receiving detoxification services, and help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment focused on recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Behavioral Health Technicians during assigned shifts, providing guidance, direction, and support while helping create a positive team environment.
• Support clients throughout their recovery journey by overseeing daily activities and maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
• Collaborate with the treatment team by communicating important client behaviors, concerns, progress, and recovery needs.
• Monitor and screen clients receiving detoxification services to help ensure their safety and recovery needs are addressed.
• Assist clients with orientation to services, including education about client rights and program expectations.
• Support crisis de-escalation efforts under the direction of supervisory staff.
• Train and support Behavioral Health Technicians and facilitate team meetings as scheduled.
• Prepare or assist with educational materials used for client groups and programming.
• Document client behaviors and progress accurately and within required timeframes.
• Provide transportation to clients as needed.

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing, or a closely related field; OR
• High school diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of responsible employment history.

Additional Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a company-owned vehicle.
• Must be at least 23 years of age to operate a company-owned 15-passenger van.
• Valid driver’s license in state of residence with an acceptable driving record.
