Job summary

City of Port Aransas is seeking a Senior Lifeguard to patrol public beach areas and monitor activities to prevent unsafe behavior. The role includes rescuing swimmers in distress, administering first aid, and maintaining weather and beach condition records.

The Senior Lifeguard supervises other lifeguards, provides training, and coordinates with the Surf Rescue Manager to ensure safety standards are met. Applicants must have USLA lifeguard certification and CPR/First Aid.

Qualifications

• Must have at least one year of Lifeguarding experience from a USLA certified agency.
• High school diploma or GED; or equivalent experience or training; related training preferred.
• Lifeguard certification from a national organization; First Aid and CPR certifications; Texas Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Patrols beach area on foot, in vehicle, or from tower to detect hazards.
• Rescues distressed swimmers and administers first aid.
• Monitors weather and beach conditions; maintains reports.
• Operates radio to coordinate with emergency units.
• Supervises other lifeguards; trains staff; plans and assigns work; evaluates performance.
