Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN seeks a Sr. Building Automation Controls Engineer (HVAC) to oversee campus BAS operations, monitor performance, and lead maintenance teams to keep systems at peak reliability.

Responsibilities include coordinating tests, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and directing BAS modifications and expansions to optimize energy use and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 4+ years of relevant experience or 6+ years with an associate's degree.
• Experience with building automation systems operation and maintenance preferred.
• Knowledge of heat transfer and fluid flow; safe operation of mechanical systems in hospital settings.

Responsibilities

• Act on all problems, emergencies and other matters affecting BAS; suspend activities when risk identified.
• Provide recommendations on equipment operation for energy conservation, efficiency and reliability.
• Review designs and manage projects for BAS modifications, additions and expansions.
• Ensure BAS monitoring and maintenance complies with policies and regulatory requirements.
• Train and guide team members on complex activities and escalations.
• Oversee safe operation of BAS; coordinate with contractors and managers for timely reporting.
• Act as liaison among FOM, contractors and tenants to minimize service disruptions; develop preventive maintenance procedures.
• Coordinate and schedule tests, inspections, and maintenance of BAS; supervise staff.
• Monitor CMMS effectiveness; ensure maintenance tasks and work orders are entered and completed.
• Coordinate with design firms and oversee construction; ensure high-quality training and commissioning for new systems.
• Conduct technical assessments to improve operations and energy-saving initiatives via system optimization.
