Job summary

Army Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) at Fort Bliss is seeking a lead bartender to supervise three or more staff and run the bar with minimal supervision. The role includes training, implementing standard procedures, and maintaining beverage quality and inventory control in a full-service setting.

You will engage with vendors, manage opening/closing procedures, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while delivering excellent customer service during evening shifts and events.

Qualifications

• Must have bartending experience in full-service bars.
• Ability to lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds.
• Possess math skills necessary to calculate bills and take inventory.
• Must have the ability to monitor and direct the work of other bar staff.
• Be able to work with alcohol-serving age requirements as per state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a working leader of three or more employees in accomplishing bartender work. Provides leadership, guidance and training to subordinate bartenders. Work is performed without close supervision. Responsible for overall operation of the bar.
• Implements industry best practices and develops a standardized training program for subordinate bartenders. Follows and teaches standard procedures of full service bars, mixing and serving the full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
• Recommends to management changes to bar procedures, drink lists, and liquor selections. Communicates well with outside vendors and distributors. Ensures bar areas are clean and tidy, and implements opening and closing procedures.
• Keeps records of quantities of beverages dispensed and submits requirement for re-stocking to supervisor. Ensures accurate count of all beverages and ensures items are utilized properly without waste.
• Recognizes intoxicated and unruly patrons and takes necessary remedial action. Uses tact and courtesy to deny further sales to persons whose conduct has become unruly or who appear to be intoxicated.
