Job summary

Springbokit is seeking two backend engineers to lead a backend refresh using Java and Spring Boot, refactoring existing services and building scalable, maintainable backends.

You will design reusable component libraries, implement performance optimizations, and contribute to automated testing and reliability. You’ll collaborate closely on architectural decisions and help shape the product's direction toward a potential exit.

Qualifications

• Deep experience with Java performance tuning and Spring Boot async tasks.
• 3+ years of professional front-end development experience building production SPAs.
• Strong proficiency in React (hooks, context, component lifecycle) or Svelte/SvelteKit (reactivity, stores, component composition).
• Strong background in automated testing (unit/integration/e2e).
• Experience improving system reliability, uptime, and debugging complex production issues.
• Hands-on experience refactoring or rewriting large, complex backends.
• Ability to execute independently while communicating clearly and contributing to architectural decisions.
• Bonus: experience with large-scale codebase modernization, module-based refactoring, or migrations from Hibernate to jOOQ.

Responsibilities

• Lead backend development using Java and Spring Boot to refactor and rebuild services.
• Design, build, and maintain SPAs using React or Svelte for fast, intuitive UX.
• Architect reusable component libraries to keep UI consistency and speed up features.
• Optimize performance—threading, async processing, scaling servers, architecture improvements.
• Build and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Collaborate on site reliability, uptime, and debugging performance bottlenecks.
• Shape technical direction for the final iteration of the product as the company moves toward an exit.
• Contribute to decisions on refactoring strategy, infra improvements, and architecture.
