Job summary

Pest Shields India is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to own the backend of a multi-tenant B2B platform end-to-end. You will design data and service models, implement, test, deploy, and support production systems.

You will write the hardest parts of the system, set engineering standards, and act as the technical reference for the team, collaborating with founders and business stakeholders to ensure robust, production-ready software.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production backend systems, with senior/lead experience.
• Experience with Java 17/21 and the Spring ecosystem including Boot, Data JPA and Security.
• Deep PostgreSQL knowledge: schema design, indexing, migrations on real data.
• Experience building multi-tenant SaaS with complex workflows and approvals.

Responsibilities

• Own the backend architecture: multi-tenancy, auth, domain boundaries, integrations.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs for data models and APIs.
• Design for auditability with immutable histories and reporting.
• Build backend systems end-to-end: MySQL/PostgreSQL schemas, Spring services, REST APIs.
• Integrate third-party services: payments, logistics, email, SMS.
• Set and enforce engineering standards: Git workflow, clean commits.
• Review PRs with focus on correctness, security, and performance.
• Participate in hiring and onboarding engineers.
• Communicate with non-technical stakeholders about constraints and risk.
• Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and support systems.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Maintain API docs and runbooks.
